Drapery Trends: Be on the Lookout

Draperies always have and always will be a style statement. They instantly soften a room, add dimension and invite pizzazz to the window. They also bring more than just what meets the eye. Solutions such as light control and privacy are also a reason they are a staple of design. But when it comes to current drapery trends, we have THE list so keep your eyes peeled!

Perfectly Paired Patterns

Patterns are a fantastic addition to any drapery. Of course, this weighs heavily on your personal style. If you find yourself gravitating towards paisley, damask, or floral details, this is one of the drapery trends that you’ll have no problem embracing.

Lovely Details

Don’t forget about the small details such as hardware. Popular finishes are matte black, gold, natural brass and oil-rubbed bronze. The features that can be customized are headers, curtain rods, rings, grommets, and drapery hooks.

The drapery header consists of the top of the draperies where the fabric is finished in a particular style and then attached to the curtain rod. The most popular way to finish the top is with pinch pleat styling. Grommets are next, followed by ripple-fold draperies. Ripple-fold draperies attach on a special track to maintain the fabric ripple consistently. Because of the track, the hardware is out of sight.

Layers Upon Layers

There is something about layering draperies that everyone can get onboard with. Different colors, textures, and weights mesh so effortlessly and with a sophisticated grace.

Linen and cotton fabrics, paired with a woven shade, is one of the drapery trends we are wild about. The softness about the linen or cotton creates an airy calmness around the window with the sturdy, yet organic movement of the shades. Both are light filtering window coverings and aesthetically pleasing.

Drapery Trends in Unexpected Places

In interior design, it’s always a skill to know the “rules.” It’s another skill to then break them. There are many places draperies are not commonly seen, but that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be! Your primary bathroom, the luxury walk-in closet, or the tucked away laundry room. These are places that would look amazing with some added drapery.
